Although this document is entitled “Behaviour Management”, it is accepted that it refers to all interactions between people in CCHS. It is also accepted that everyone who comes into contact with students and other members of the public in the course of their work at Castlebrae Community High School will strive to ensure that effective communication and interaction, as well as effective learning and teaching, can take place.
Such efforts will ensure that we achieve our vision for CCHS – which is: “Castlebrae Community High School is a centre of excellence at the heart of its community. Learning and achievement are encouraged and celebrated. We are a caring, committed happy team working in a modern, welcoming environment where everyone is valued, respected and safe.”
The advice and guidance offered within this booklet will support the development of consistency and coherence of approach within individual classrooms, across departments and throughout the whole school and its environs. Such consistency is an essential factor in ensuring that we achieve our vision.
Central Issues
Central and thus essential to the realisation of this vision are certain agreed statements and policy documents:
In the Modern Languages Department, we felt we needed to add to the school behaviour policy. Therefore, to the whole school's yellow and red card consequences, we added the "green card" consequences, reinforcing the positive behaviour in the department.
The register is taken on a A3 sticker chart where pupils can collect their stickers and positive referals. Absences, Lates, Warnings and Lack of Equipment (pencil, homework, etc) prevents pupils from collecting their daily sticker.
As from Stage 3 of the yellow card, pupils behaviour is monitored using a departmental behaviour sheet.
